It's Been Awhile

So it's been 5 months and 17 days since I've updated this blog, to say it's been neglected is a bit of an understatement. I've been really busy with school this semester and I haven't found the time/energy to update with some of the work I've been doing but I'll try to post it all sometime during the break. In the meantime I'll post the link to our final design assignment where we worked in groups of 3 to invent an idea for a TV show and to create a model pack for the show. I was in a group with my friends Mike and Gemma and we had some bumps along the way but I really believe that I couldn't have been in a better group! Thanks guys! We originally all had certain tasks we were supposed to perform, but we all ended up doing some work in all areas. I was sort of in charge of the design and look, but like I said, we all helped out. Model Pack

Overall I've learned so much this semester! I'm having so much fun and I'm so thankful I'm at Capilano, I'm really building a great foundation to build on....but holy crap my class is talented D:! I have a bad case of little fish, big pond. I guess the biggest thing I learned this semester is that I tend to prefer my design assignments over my animation ones. Also, for design next semester our teacher is Kenny Park so I'm really really stoked because his work is AMAZING!

Haha I know it's weird but I wanted to try something different for my last project and I'm happy I did because I had a lot of fun making it. I think it's a pretty funny painting and I like how it turned out :).

On another note I've been really absorbed in the World Cup...I'm definitely proud of my Dutch citizenship at the moment:P.

I went drawing at the airport this week so I'll post the caricatures I did soon, I'm just too lazy to scan them today.

Belated News

Belated News: I got into Capilano:D! I can't wait for September! Haha I should've posted this earlier but I've been busy with Grad and stuff and when I'm not busy I'm being lazy.

No art today, I'll post some soon hopefully. I'm almost done my final art project for Grade 12 so I'll post that when I'm done. All I can say about it is it's...interesting. Haha you'll know what I mean soon enough :P.

Here's a project for Sculpture 12 I finished recently. I like making ugly stuff, let's me be more creative. This project has a lot of problems but I had fun making it and I think it's fun to look at too lol.

Pixar and Thrones

Pixar Canada opened today! And I also read today that Sony Animation and ILM are planning on opening studios in Vancouver too!!!

Here's a really awesome video they made for the opening. Hearing John Lasseter talk about where I live is just like when you're at a concert and the band talks about the city they're in and everyone's goes nuts:

In other news, I've been really addicted to a book series I've started called A Song of Ice and Fire. I just finished the first book, A Game of Thrones, a couple days ago and I rushed out to get the second one that night.

I haven't been this into a book series since Harry Potter o.O! If you like to read, read this!

Capilano Portfolio

I should update more often, I've starting neglecting this blog. Anyways here's my portfolio I submitted for the Commercial Animation program at Capilano University. I should hear back from them with a decision in about 3 weeks.

People who know me well know I'm a big fan of The Shins:). They were rumoured to be coming out with a new album this year but when I found out they were going on hiatus so James Mercer could pursue another project...I died inside a little. But that didn't last long because his new band, Broken Bells, is awesome! Listen to Broken Bells - The High Road and if you like it I urge you to buy their album. It's pretty swell!

Monopoly!

Hey so I just watching Spongebob and I saw an ad that Monopoly's making a new Canadian version of Monopoly that uses a Canadian city instead of Atlantic City. But they're doing an online vote to choose which city they're gonna use! So I'm urging the couple of you from Vancouver who follow my blog to vote for our city because that would be cool if we had our own Monopoly board :). Here's the link:
