Newer Life Drawings

These are just a couple of my favourites from today and tuesdays classes. Sorry I forgot to rotate some of them, just tilt you head please cuz I'm to lazy to re-upload them.

I still had time left after finishing the last pose on this page so I decided to put something stupid on the page that means nothing as a joke of how people do stuff like this to seem edgy but when they do it just comes off contrived and weird. I kinda regret doing it because you can't tell it was a joke just by looking at it lol...

I really like this one:
This is actually the same drawing I just changed it and accidentally posted both photos.

My First Animations

Here are some animation assignments I did at Capilano Animation throughout July. I just finished up a walk and run animation a couple days ago which I'll post tomorrow probably and I'm going to be finishing up my first dialogue assignment (which is animated to an audio clip everybody probably knows...but I'm not gonna say because it's a surprise) tomorrow which I'll also be posting soon, if all goes well 8-| ). I also have an older assignment that needs some fixing before I want to post it. This is my first time doing real animations since I've only done flipbooks with stickmen during 6th grade and a terrible flash cartoon I made in 9th grade.

In case you're interested (or if anyone's even reading this), here's the piece of crap flash I made in 9th grade...don't judge me based on this lol.

I'm pretty happy with my animations so far and so is my teacher apparently, I've gotten 100% on almost

my assignments except 1 or maybe 2 that i got 98% (I also have the highest mark in my class out of

26 students:D!). I don't think these are really portfolio demo reel quality but I don't really know so let me

know if you think I should include these in a demo reel when I apply to Calarts.

New Life Drawings

So I've been taking a summer animation program at Capilano University to prepare for the portfolio I'll be sending to Calarts and some other animation schools. I was planning on posting every once in awhile during the course but that hasn't really been happening (as you can see:) ). Anyways I'm gonna do a big huge update right now with some life drawings I've done and some animations, but I'll separate them up into different posts, why, because I feel like it dammit >:| !!!!

Anyways here are some of the drawings I've done throughout July. I kind of like some of them, but I'm really scared that my portfolio won't be ready by December because I hate most of the drawings I've been doing. The class has been kind of traditional in the teaching approach to animation so I've been trying to experiment more ( aka disobeying the teacher) but I don't think I really have the hang of it yet:(. These are mostly just gestures since we don't get very much time to do longer poses, which pisses me off kinda. There's also a still life drawing in there. Here we go...

HAPPY CANADA DAY!

Today is
Canada
Day

I thought I'd make a post for today, Canada Day, to show my patriotism:). Canada has an amazing music scene but i don't think it's very well known outside of the country. So I've decided to compile a list of my favourite Canadian bands. So if you're reading this, give these bands a listen.

Sam Roberts (he is a god of music, so I chose 3 of my favourite songs, but he has so many good ones! I saw him in concert in March and he was even better live:O)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l46wrY1Rk38 Them Kids

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l46wrY1Rk38 Bridge to Nowhere

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KOnSP7q8z4 Words and Fire

The Arcade Fire
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNfWC4Sgkcs Rebellion (Lies)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEKC5pyOKFU&feature=related Intervention
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEKC5pyOKFU&feature=related Wake Up (This was used for the 'Where The Wild Things Are' trailer so you may have heard it before
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEZockGkEyY&feature=related Keep The Car Running

The Tragically Hip

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XN25TcN--I8 In View

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyMHiGXU3DM Love Is A First

Metric (They just recently released an amazing new album called Fantasies which both of these songs are from but the bands been around for alot longer than that so you should check out some of their older stuff too if you like these)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqldwoDXHKg Gimme Sympathy

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEz8N8AT-yo Sick Muse

City and Colour

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RZW5_fZZpI&feature=fvst Sleeping Sickness

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZK1-3hsqOWE Save Your Scissors

Alexisonfire (Dallas Green, from City and Colour, is in this band which is alot harder rock than City and Colour but even if you don't like the screaming in this band just give it a couple minutes and you'll hear the contrast of the two singers which is really cool)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJcZaS0JthA Boiled Frogs

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=23Ivt-ikYIk This Could Be Anywhere in The World

The Stills

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAVIsiLTNTY Being Here

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXXU7dcfFnY&feature=related Still In Love Song (There's no music video for this one but this is the song put to some weird anime montage. Oh yeah it also starts off with a Rammstein song or something but that ends like 20 seconds in)

Mobile

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7egnAX6gm0&feature=related The Killer

Jon and Roy

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmbX_W8FX2E Little Bit of Love(This is the only video of this song on youtube)

Tegan and Sara (They're twins so they have really cool harmony, plus they're from Vancouver:D, most of the bands on this list are either from Victoria or Toronto.)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqrFbmC6PsU The Con

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysGPmSzR9jc Call It Off

The Dudes

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILb4MU39GtE Do The Right Thing

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q22CgMYDBHE&feature=related Pretty Lies (I don't know who made this but it has kittens fighting!! HARDCORE!)

Rush (This band is very well known around the world but I put it on here anyways because theyre godly)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7DFsBcVMDA Tom Sawyer

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mwiURyX2B4 Limelight

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qH_PPzcpeBw Xanadu

There are many more but I know this is already many more than anyone's actually going to listen to. The sad thing is alot of the Canadian music that does make it out of the country is absolute shit, (i.e. Avril Lavigne, Nickelback, Celine Dion).

Lol I posted way more than I intended so good job if you made it the whole way! Happy Canada Day!

COLDPLAY!!!!!

Coldplay at Coal Harbour(I believe) :O !

So I haven't posted in awhile so I thought it was about time that I fix that, even if this topic is not at all related to animation. On Sunday night I went to the Coldplay concert at GM Place in Vancouver and it was absolutely amazing!!! I was already a big Coldplay fan but they are 10 times better live than on a recording, and that's saying something! Snow Patrol opened the show along with an Australian band called Howling Bells. Coldplay opened with Life in Technicolor(i not ii) followed by Violet Hill and I lost track of the order of songs after that(I think Yellow was next). For Yellow they released dozens of huge yellow balloons down onto the crowd that were bouncing around everywhere. I was kinda bummed that they didn't play Don't Panic, which is one of my favourites, but it was still a spectacular show! To top it all off they filmed the Vancouver show for a live DVD release :D :D!!! I ruined my voice at the concert so bad that it hurt to drink liquids but it was all worth it:).

I'm starting a 2 month animation program at Capilano University on July 6 and it's 5 days/wk

6 hours/day so I'll be very busy and I'll be trying to post most of what I do.

I doubt anyone even reads this, what a waste of time lol.

UP!

Up was awesome! It's the funniest Pixar movie ever, but it's also the most dramatic and serious which is an odd combination but I think that's one of the strongest aspects of the movie. It's a perfect example of what Walt Disney once said, "For every laugh there should be a tear." I don't think it's the best movie pixar has made but it's definitely in the top 3 with the incredibles and wall-e. I've seen it twice now and I really wanna go back and see it a third time, but i have no money:( I'll finish this post with a secret frame of the movie that was never released to the public:O!!...

I wasn't aloud to tell anyone I was in this movie!

First Post :O!

So I started up this blog about a month ago and to post my artwork on but i didn't post any cuz after setting everything up...i got bored lol. But I've decided to put it to good use and start posting some artwork. I'm coming to the end of grade 11 so come december, I'll be applying to Character Animation at California Institute of the Arts. So I'll be using this blog to post my efforts at a portfolio as the deadline for admissions slowly creeps closer.

I'm starting an 8-week full time animation program at Capilano University in July for my summer so im really stoked for the end of school!!! I'll probably post my work from that program as I go as well. Anyways I should probably post some artwork lol. These drawings are all from a gesture drawing session i went to on sunday. The rest of the drawings will be in another post cuz somethings acting weird on my computer cuz its a piece of crap PC.
